Two Arrests in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

This incident resulted in the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody related to a theft at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were called at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
