Heartbreaking News on Cargo Plane Accident: Fatalities Rises to 13

The total count of fatalities from the UPS cargo plane that ignited and plummeted has reached 13, as confirmed by latest reports.

Mayor's Announcement

Traveling to the Workers’ candlelight gathering, I learned of a 13th person that passed away as a consequence of the UPS flight 2976 incident,” wrote the municipal leader in a public communication. “My prayers are with the families, companions and co-workers of all who were taken in this week’s calamity. We will get through this as one.”

Casualties Confirmed

An announcement from the carrier named the officers on board the jet as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, Co-pilot Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.

“Our hearts go out to all UPSer who has been touched and everyone in our community region – helping you and guaranteeing you get the attention and resources you need is our main concern,” the company’s communication stated.

Inquiry Findings

Government officials announced that the UPS cargo plane’s port side wing ignited and an engine detached shortly after liftoff from the aviation hub, causing the jet to plummet and erupt into a fireball.

The National Transportation Safety Board stated it is investigating the jet’s service record, which was in Texas for fixes weeks prior to the crash.

Aircraft records showed the aircraft was on the runway in San Antonio, Texas from early September to 18 October.

“We are aware that this plane was there in the facility,” remarked an NTSB member on the following day, without providing a specific date range. “We will look at each aspect of maintenance that was done, including the Texas visit, all the way to the day of the flight.”

Findings of Key Components

The audio device and flight data recorder were found, and the motor was located on the runway.

The devices – called flight recorders – were built to endure collision damage and intense temperatures from infernos, and they seemed to be in one piece when discovered amid the wreckage. Officials plan on analyzing recordings from the recorders.

Jet’s final recorded information indicated an altitude of 475 feet and a rate of that speed prior to the crash.

Maintenance Record

According to Federal Aviation Administration documents from 18 September, a fissure on a structural piece in the tank area demanded repairs.

Singapore-based ST Engineering, which said it offers airframe maintenance for the company’s jet and runs a service location in Texas, declined to provide remarks, but expressed it would work closely when relevant authorities contacted it.

Activities Resume

Meanwhile, UPS Worldport services restarted that evening with its overnight or night sort procedure, official the company official stated. All three runways at the airport were likewise open again.

The sorting center in the city is the organization’s most significant. The facility employs more than twenty thousand workers in the locality, handles three hundred trips daily and organizes in excess of four hundred thousand parcels per hour.

Local Reaction

A memorial was organized on the late afternoon of 6 November by the regional worker’s group, which supports staff at the Louisville airport, the company’s biggest air cargo hub.

The union chapter, which supports employees, commenced the gathering with a moment of silence at that time, the rough moment of the accident before.

“This incident was so sudden, so surprising,” the official addressed the crowd of attendees. “No one had a chance to part to each of those who we have lost.”
